Landscape (from Dutch Landskip) is not probably my favourite subject. Where I have worked in this area it has usually been to record details within a landscape or to make the sort of transformed images that lith printing for example can produce. Faithful reproduction of the broad sweep of the land really requires knowledge of the locality, the right light and the ability to capture a depth of detail on fine grain film in a medium format or large format camera. Failing that a digital camera with lots of pixels is the alternative, but expensive. That said there are some landscapes that deserve to be recorded, and we met some in Wales. A 12 Mpx compact camera can do a fairly good job here but some, such as the industrial landscape, are candidates for the highly detailed treatment. These are effectively non hierarchical images that deserve to be printed on the grand scale. That said, this is not my favourite subject and I have left just a few images here. There are other landscapes elsewhere.
